Membre du collectif Sofa Surfers, figure incontournable de la scène dub allemande, que je ne peux que vous conseillez (un nouvel album d'ailleurs va prochainement sortir), Markus Kienzl fait une incartade solo en publiant au printemps dernier un album sur le label allemand 'Klein Records' où l'on retrouve bien entendu Sofa Surfers mais également Stereotyp, Mum, I-Wolf.
Cet autrichien met à crédit toute son expérience Sofa Surfers dans cet album : Les moiteurs lourdes du dub, les tentatives futuristes ragga, la classe d'un downtempo que seule la scène viennoise sait nous offrir (cf. : Tosca, Kruder & Dorfmeister...). L'influence de Tricky (époque 'Maxinquaye') en plus peut-être. Si la musique est bonne, que dire des featurings ! Le flow ravageur de Oddateee, l'incontourbable chanteur de dub électronique Paul Saint Hilaire, la voix de velours de Singing Bird.
Le meilleur titre est sans hésiter 'Like a ghost'. Une vraie claque avec un tempo lent, des rythmes légers, des intonations jazz, une ligne de basse profonde mêlée à un orgue jazz et surtout une interprétation sensationnelle pleine de sensibilité de Barbara Stanzl. A savourer tendrement.

The best track is without hesiation 'Like has ghost'. A real snap with a slow tempo, low rhythms, jazz intonations, a line of deep bass mixed with an jazz organ and especially a sensational interpretation with full sensitivity of Barbara Stanzl. To enjoy tenderly.
