Gus Gus est un groupe ou plus exactement un collectif à l'évolution mouvante. Au départ, au milieu des années 90, il s'agissait d'un rassemblement de musiciens et vidéastes islandais qui de par leur singularité, avait rencontré un vive succès avec leur trip-hop psychédélique et étrange ("Polydistorsion") puis Gus Gus s'est constamment métamorphosé leur permettant une longévité suprenante, un respect critique constant et également une ouverture vers de nouveaux horizons musicaux.
Gus Gus en 2007, c'est une triplette composée Biggi Veira, Earth et President Bongo. Et leur nouvel album, le 5ème album, "Forever" est une plongée dans un dancefloor qui sue d'un rock-disco mutant, d'une house ragaillardie et d'une techno jouissive. L'extravagance, des paroles crades et la pédale d'accélération à fond, ont permis un résultat incroyable, une matière première d'excellence pour des remix (déjà prévus avec Tim Deluxe, Carl Craig, Patrick Chardronnet). Surtout que la production de "Forever" est subjugante tant les textures sonores sont ambivalentes frôlant les sonorités des années 90 et les éclats des années 00. Comme si l'album était indéfinissable, hors du temps, meilleur moyen de devenir "forever".
"Hold You" est un énorme morceau. Entre du garage et de la funky house avec forcément une ligne de basse renversante, . L'enchevêtrement des voix féminine et masculines est fantastique. Alors dansons maintenant !
Gus Gus is a band or more exactly a collective with a moving evolution. At the beginning, in the middle of the Nineties, it was about a gathering of Icelandic musicians and movie makers who with a real singularity, had met a success with their psychedelic and strange trip-hop (“Polydistorsion”) then Gus Gus was constantly metamorphosed allowing them a surprising longevity, a constant criticizes respect and also an open mind towards new musical horizons.

Extravagancia, dirty lyrics and the accelerator pedal at the bottom, allowed an incredible result, a raw material perfect for remixes (already planned with Tim Deluxe, Carl Craig, Patrick Chardronnet). Especially the production of “Forever” is subjugating so much : sound textures are ambivalent very close to 90's sonorities and 2K glares. As if the album were indefinable, out of time, better way to become “forever”.
“Hold You” is an enormous track. Between garage and funky house with inevitably a astounding bassline . The tangle of the female and male voices is fantastic. So let's dance now!
