Simon Baker est un DJ versatile depuis 15 ans. Sa passion pour la musique house et techno underground et subtile l'a propulsé parmi les meilleurs DJ en Angleterre, devenant résidant au Warehouse de Leeds et au Key de Londres. Lui restait à démontrer qu'il avait l'étoffe d'un grand producteur.
C'est sous le nom de Liptrick qu'il sort en 2004 son premier maxi. Il est alors signé sur Infant Records qui édite "The Head Row", "Aerosol Games" et surtout "The Footprints"qui lui ouvre les portes de la reconnaissance. Chacun des morceaux est une tuerie, et ce EP remporte le succès des critiques, les passages en radio. Homme d'un coup ? Certainement pas vu le maxi suivant "Catch Up" sorti sur le label américain Sugarcane. Sa techno minimale est un vrai régal, sa musique est élecro-magnétique avec des sons granuleux, des basses aux formes arrondies.
"Plastik" est l'un des morceaux du tout dernier EP de Simon Baker. L'intro replonge dans une ambiance de musique électronique d'un film des années 70. Une basse épileptique, un soupçon d'orgue, "Plastik" est tel un cachet d'ecstasy, le compagnon hallucinogène qui met en transe l'auditeur. Ne pas en abuser tout de même...
Simon Baker has been a versatile DJ for 15 years. His passion for underground and subtle house-techno music propelled him among the best DJ in England, becoming resident in The Warehouse in Leeds and The Key in London. He remained to show that he had the fabric of a great producer.
It is under the name of Liptrick that he releases in 2004 his first EP. Just after he is signed by Infant Records which published “The Head Row”, “Games Aerosol” and especially “The Footprints " which opens the doors of the recognition to him. Each song is monstruous and this EP gains the success of criticisms, radios playing them often. Man of one single success ? Certainly not considering the EP which followed, “Catch Up” released on the American label Sugarcane. His minimal techno is a real treat, his music is elecro-magnetic with granulous sounds, basslines with round forms.
