3-6 Mafia est le groupe légendaire de hip-hop créé en 1991. DJ Paul, Juicy J, Lord Infamous et trois autres MCs ont un point commun avec Elvis Presley, ils sont de Memphis. Ce qui leur vaudra de représenter la scène rap sud-américain que l'on appellait à l'époque Dirty South. Ils sortirent en 1995 un classique Mystic Stylez et s'apprêtent à sortir en 2006 un nouvel album fort attendu.
Issu du sud américain également (côté floride), Diplo s'est fait remarquer en 2003 grâce une mixtape 'Never Scared' qu'il enregistra avec son acolyte Low Budget (Le New York Times l'avait classée parmi les dix meilleurs albums de l'année). Ensemble ils forment en fait Hollertronix qui est aux bootlegs version hip-hop ce que sont les 2 Many DJs aux bootlegs rock et électro. Pour ceux qui ne le savent pas, un bootleg est l'association d'un acapella issu d'un morceau et l'instrumental d'un second. Les 2 Many DJs mélangent Garbage et Felix Da Housecat alors que Hollertronix mixe Snoop Dogg avec Cure.
Après un second volet sorti en 2004, Hollertronix est de retour avec le troisième volume qui s'annonce prometteur. Diplo et Low Budget reprennent les flows de 3-6 Mafia issus du titre 'Stay High' y injectant un instrumental, pour le moment non identifié, avec une basse langoureuse et une section rythmique funky. Ecoutez et stay High ahahaha...
