Les informations sur Basic Operations ne sont pas nombreuses sur Internet si ce n'est qu'il s'agit d'une formation composée de Nathan Hayes (Sirus), d'Eric Knight (Catullus) et de Kevin Jekel (Focus). C'est grâce à l'excellente compilation sortie en 2005 'Soundtrax For Life' que j'ai pu découvrir ce trio dynamique de talent qui avait secoué selon certains forums de discussion les afficionados de Drum & Bass avec leur production superbe et un état d'esprit positif.
Depuis leur début en 2003, Basic Operations sortent chaque trimestre un EP passant d'un label anglais à un autre et gardant la même ligne conductrice : du fun, du fun, du fun ! Et il est indéniable qu'ils s'y connaissent utilisant les recettes d'une drum & bass tantôt funky, tantôt jazzy. Ils me font penser à DJ Marky, la vibe brésilienne en moins.
Leur dernier opus qui vient de sortir sur Tangent Records, est dans la lignée avec un énorme tube potentiel avec le titre 'Revolution'. Pourquoi un tube ? Tout simplement parce que Basic Operations a eu l'excellente idée de reprendre le sample de Bernard Wright, 'Spinnin', déjà connu dans le monde entier avec le morceau 'I Wish' de Skee-Lo. C'est festif et efficace Bref c'est de la bonne Drum & Bass !

Since their beginning in 2003, Basic Operations have been releasing each quarter a EP and keep the same conducting line : fun, fun, fun ! It is undeniable that they know how to make fun, using the receipts of a drum & bass sometimes funky, sometimes jazzy. They remind me DJ Marky, the Brazilian vibe in less.
Their last opus which has just released on Tangent Records, is in the same mood with an enormous potential hit with the track 'Revolution'. Why a hit ? The reason is simple : BASIC Operations had the excellent idea to use again the sample of Bernard Wright, 'Spinnin', already well known worldwide with the track of Skee-Lo 'I Wish'. It is effective & dancing. Well it's a nice Drum & Bass!
