Depuis leur tube "At The River" qui samplait Patti Page "Old Cape Cod", Groove Armada est parvenu à rester fidèle à une certaine vision de la dance music, sans se répéter et lasser. Ils sont de retour avec "Soundboy Rock", un nouvel album studio, une collection de quinze titres s'enchaînant les uns avec les autres comme sur une bonne vieille mixtape. La conception de cet opus est originale puisque chacun a travaillé de son côté sur chaque morceaux, Andy Cato en Espagne, dans son studio, The Sweatbox, et Tom Findlay à Hackney au sein de son Tom Tom Club, s'échangeant leurs fichiers musicaux par Internet tous instrumentaux. Vient le temps des invitations où New York est le point de ralliement : une équipe de rêve débarque. Angie Stone, grande dame de la soul music s'installe sur "Feel The Same As You", Rhymefest (signé sur le label de Mark Ronson) apporte son hip-hop au funk de "The Girls Say", Candi Staton apporte sa pêche sur "Lovebox Weekender", Simon Lord de Simian Mobile Disco chante sur "The Things That We Could Share", Alan Donohoe des Rakes intervient sur le magnifique "See What You Get" ainsi que Jeb Loy Nichols, un chanteur de country américain, l'ex-chanteuse des Sugababes, Mutya Buena ou encore à Karen Pool. Bref la liste est longue et illustre la volonté de ces producteurs compositeurs de prendre de nouvelles directions en s'appuyant sur les contributions et les touches personnelles de chaque featuring. "Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control)" est un tube qui cartonnera sur les ondes FM. Depuis quelques mois, le buzz montait autour de cet album et preuve est de constater que "Soundboy Rock" est à la hauteur. C'est un disque excitant qui ne se prend pas trop au sérieux, aux styles et featurings variés, tout en gardant une certaine fluidité à l'ensemble. Groove Armada fête ainsi leurs 10 années de carrière en beauté.
Le titre "Get Down" est bourré d'une énergie euphorisante. Déjà en boucle sur la playlist des plus grands DJs, le premier single de l'album annonce la couleur : gare aux dancefloors car Groove Armada est toujours aussi doué à enthousiasmer nos oreilles et nos jambes. "Get Down" aux aspirations de carnaval urbain est l'occasion de découvrir une jeune MC londonienne, Stush qui distille un elixir vocal imparable associé à une ligne basse monumentale. Groove Armada thus celebrates their 10 years with an impressive freshness.
The track “Get Down” is made in an euphoriant energy.
