Voom Voom, il faut bien l'avouer, n'est pas un nom vraiment séduisant. Malgré cela, il ne faut surtout pas passer son chemin car derrière, on retrouve un trio autrichien, Peter Kruder (Peace Orchestra, Kruder & Dorfmeister) et les deux membres de Fauna Flash (Christian Prommer and Roland Appel). Ayant depuis de nombreuses années collaboré ensemble, se remixant mutuellement, ils avaient en parallèle lancé Voom Voom en 2000 avec un EP "Poppen / Influenza Forte" puis en 2003 avec "Baby 3". Voom Voom est finalement plus un nom de code qu'un nom de scène même si leur musique trouve leur place sur les dancefloors.
Depuis Janvier 2006, Voom Voom lâche chaque mois un EP comportant 2 titres, soit une série de quatre singles qui seront légitiment rassemblés en un album (annoncé pour mai ou juin). C'est logiquement le label Studio k7 qui sort donc cette suite intitulée "Peng Peng", nom aussi ridicule que l'est Voom Voom. Par contre la qualité des productions qui nous sont proposées, est plus qu'à la hauteur : des morceaux accrocheurs qui donnent l'impression qu'on les connaît depuis des années, réexploitant les astuces des anciens comme le voicoder de Daft Punk sur "Bounce". "Peng Peng" correspond un vrai exercice de style qui consisterait à composer un titre de chaque genre présent dans une bonne soirée, de la techno de Détroit "Oggi" en passant par de la deep house "Sao Verought", de l'ambiant "Vampire Song" en passant par l'électro-punk "Keep The Drums Out". Une orgie de groove variée.
"Best Friend" recueille mon suffrage, m'apportant un ciel bleu en cette période si froide et si grise. Une basse bien funky, un orgue synthétiseur jazzy, une rythmique calmement endiablée et une voix chuchotante donne le "la" d'une ambiance amicale. C'est comme si le Doors se produisaient à Ibiza, jouant un de leurs blues au Café del Mare. Un cocktail, mon "meilleur ami" et Voom Voom...

Since January 2006, Voom Voom has been releasing each month a EP with 2 tracks, that is to say a series of four singles which will be legitimately gathered in an album (announced for May or June). It is logically the label Studio k7 which thus releases this serie entitled "Peng Peng", name as ridiculous as Voom Voom. On the other hand the quality of the productions which are proposed to us, is really impressive : hookers tracks which give the impression that one knows them for years, reusing some old receipts like the voicoder of Daft Punk on "Bounce". "Peng Peng" is a real exercise of style which would consist in composing a song of each kind you can listen in a good party, from techno of Detroit "Oggi" while passing by deep house "Sao Verought", from ambient "Song Vampire" while passing by electro-punk "Keep The Drums Out". An orgy of varied grooves.
"Best Friend" is my vote, showing me a blue sky in this so cold and so gray period. Funky bass, a jazzy organ synthetizer, calmly deviled breaks and a whispering voice give it a friendly atmosphere. It is as if Doors played in Ibiza, playing one their blues at Cafe del Mare. A cocktail, my "best friend" and Voom Voom...
