Akil, Zaakir, Mark 7even, DJ Nu Mark, Chali 2na et Cut Chemist ont formé Jurassic 5 à la fin des années 90. Cet association de pointures du hip-hop a réussi à convaincre une large audience aux États-Unis où les productions des deux DJs Cut Chemist et Nu Mark profitaient des talents d'écriture et de flows de ces rappers aguerris. C'est du hip-hop typiquement côte ouest, plus précisément californien du nord, patrie des DJ Shadow, Quannum, etc.
Leur précédent album "Power In Numbers" était funky et sombre et après quatre longues années à attendre un nouvel album, les voici de retour avec "Feedback". Jurassic 5 revient mais sans Cut Chemist cette fois qui a décidé de se lancer en solo (ne ratez pas son album "Audience's Listening"). Malgré ce coup dur, l'album est à la hauteur et devrait ravir aussi bien les puristes du hip-hop que les fans de sonorités neuves . On navigue entre hip-hop classique et musique latine ('Canto De Ossanha') mais aussi la pop à travers un hommage aux Beatles ('get It Together') ou encore la colaboration surprenant avec le Dave Matthews Band. Quand le métissage s'invite à l'intelligence et à la joie, un album ne peut que bien se porter ou plutôt s'écouter.
Du fun, du funk, de l'énergie et de l'humour voilà une combinaison qui confère aux Jurassic 5 toutes les chances de plaire au plus grand nombre. "Red Hot" est mon coup de coeur de la rentrée. Certains penseront certainement que la production est facile. Qu'importe, les paroles pèsent peu quand nos oreilles se régalent. On en redemande.

In spite of this hard blow, the album is excellent and should charm the hip-hop purists as well as the fans of new sonorities. One sails between hip-hop traditional and Latin music (“Canto De Ossanha”) but also the pop one through a tribute to Beatles (“Get It Together”) or the surprising colaboration with Dave Matthews Band. When interbreeding is mixed with intelligence and joy, an album can only a pleasure to listen.
Fun, funk, energy and humor, here is the combination which confers on Jurassic 5 all chances to please more and more people. “Red Hot” is my favourite track of the moment. Some will for sure think that the production is quite too easy. Don't care about that, words weigh little when our ears are so pleased. So we want more!
