Superthriller est lancé en 2000 par deux frères, Ben et Max Ringham qui s'associent à Andrew Roland. Leur créneau : faire survivre une certaine vision du funk, la plus originelle possible. Superthriller reprend également les codes du genre, à base d'eccentricités, d'éclectismes et d'humour et se retrouve au coeur d'une hype que certains tentent déjà de s'accaparer.
Il faut préciser qu'au delà de leur côté déluré, les trois compères disposent d'un réel talent pour composer un funk sexy façon Prince, une disco à la sauce Brothers Johnson et une sens de la mélodie d'un Elton John ancienne époque (années 70). Il suffit d'écouter leur premier album "Superthriller 1" sorti en 2005 pour s'en rendre compte. A l'époque, cela me faisait aux Scissor Sisters mais finalement je pencherai plus pour Beck avec lequel Superthriller partage ce point commun de l'amusement et de la variété (éclectisme). D'ailleurs il avait invité le groupe à le suivre sur sa tournée européenne, de quoi trouver une dynamique et une inspiration pour le second album au nom à nouveau original "Superthriller 2". Les mêmes ingrédients mais en mieux : du funk façon Parliament, des paroles toujours aussi drôles comme sur "Benny And The Jets", du groove à revendre comme sur "The Duality Of Man" ou "Cranky" et surtout du plaisir à revendre, un vrai partage à l'éclate !
On retrouve tous ces ingrédients sur le titre "I Love You", déclaration d'amour insincère, fine plaisanterie succuré par un chanteur blanc R'nB timide et terriblement ironique. Au delà de l'humour, la mélodie, les arrangements font de ce morceau une friandise tendre qu'on se prend sucer en hochant la tête avec un sourire aux lèvres. Comme le chante si bien Superthriller, I love you "like Tom Cruise, but better".

I must mention that beyond their crazy side, the three accomplices have a true talent to compose a sexy funk as Prince's one, a disco music as the one of Brothers Johnson and a sense of the melody of Elton John from the era Seventies. It is enough to listen to their first album “Superthriller 1” released in 2005 to discover it. When i discovered them, Superthriller reminded me Scissor Sisters but finally I will lean more for Beck with whom Superthriller shares this common point of recreation and variety (eclecticism). Moreover Beck invited the band to follow him on his European tour, what to find a dynamics and an inspiration for the second album with an original title “Superthriller 2”. Same components but in better: a Parliament's funk, always such funny lyrics as on “Benny And The Jets”, a great groove to share “The Duality Of Man” or “Cranky” and especially pleasures to offer, an entertainment machine!
You find all these things on the track “I Love You”, insincere declaration of love, a fine joke song by a white timid and ironic guy. Beyond humour, the melody, arrangements make of this song a tender delicacy which you begin to suck by shaking the head with a smile at your lips. As Superthriller sings it so well, I love you “like Tom Cruise, but better”.
