Une série de maxis qui circulent depuis 4 ans passait d’ores et déjà pour culte. Derrière elle se trouve un avatar de jazz combiné de hip hop dénommé The Visioneers. Selon son fondateurs, le visionnaire Marc Mac (membre des légendaires Londoniens, 4 Hero), il ne s'agit pas d'un groupe mais un projet en studio qui rassemble de grosses pointures, de fidèles compères de Marc Mac comme le batteur Luke "Hopper" Parkhouse et l’ingénieur du son, bassiste et touche à tout de génie Brad "Somatik" Nunn. Cette armada de qualité ne pouvait que nous offrir un résultat admirable.
Dans une interview, Marc Mac disait que le jazz avait pour habitude d'être radical, et que c'était la raison pour laquelle les producteurs de hip hop prenaient l'habitude de le sampler. Son intention avec ce projet est de réintroduire ce jazz dans les mains des MCs tel un retour aux sources. A l’instar du Yesterdays New Quintet de Madlib ou Breakestra, la splendeur de cet album répond donc à toutes nos attentes en fusionnant jazz live et esprit hip hop à l’ancienne poussant le concept dans ses retranchement en proposant des reprises de Moe Koffman & Jill Scott, The Pharcyde & Pete Rock. Sorti sur BBE et Omniverse Recordings, ces sublimes compositions accueillent pour certaines quelques rappers reconnus comme Capitol A and Voice.
Difficile de voir un titre sortir de ce lot de tueries. Malgré tout, je vous sélectionne "Runnin" qui m'a fait faire un bond en arrière de 10 ans lorsque les exceptionnels Pharcyde sortaient leur second album 'Labcabincalifornia' avec ce titre devenu un classique. Mais ne nous limitons pas à ce morceau car nous tenons ni plus ni moins qu’un futur classique qui porte bien son nom "Dirty Old Hip Hop" !

Difficult to find a better track than others in this album. Despite this, I select you "Runnin" which made me make a jump behind 10 years when the exceptional Pharcyde released their second album 'Labcabincalifornia' with the fantastic song "Runnin" which become a classic. But don't limit to this track because we hold neither more nor less than one future classic opus which bears well its name "Dirty Old Hip Hop"!
