C'est l'hallucination bien heureuse du mois de septembre. Prenez un obscur DJ au nom bien difficile à porter en France, Dan Le Sac (je suis curieux de connaître d'où lui est venu l'inspiration) et un rappeur blanc, Scroobius Pip, qui ressemble à un clochard avec une barbe à la Rick Rubin, des chemises de bûcheron canadien et également un nom qui ne ressemble à rien. Les Français me diront que c'est un coup marketing genre Kamini mais j'en doute (encore que !). La conclusion de cette histoire, c'est que malgré un look peu propice pour intégrer le show business, des noms de scène peu vendeurs, il y a encore l'espoir de faire de bons titres. Enfin, au moins un !
Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, c'est un LCD Soundsystem en mode anglais avec son humour typique british et l'accent qui va avec. La nonchalance de Scroobius Piup dans son phrasé qui rappelle vraiment James Murphy et la drôlerie de ses paroles (toute ressemblance avec The Streets serait fortuite !) m'ont bien plu. Notamment sur "Thou Shalt Always Kill" où Scroobius Pip déroule une liste d'artistes en les décriant : "Thou shalt not think that any male over the age of 30 that plays with a child that is not their own is a peadophile. Some people are just nice" ou " Thou shalt not make some noise for Detroit". Un vrai comique bien soutenu par Dan Le Sac, producteur de très bons instrus dans la mouvance des sorties de Lex Records comme sur "Angles". D'ailleurs ils ont signé récemment chez eux récemment !
"The Beat That My Heart Skipped" est leur dernier single qui sera, je pense, un vrai carton. Le sample de guitare, la boucle de basse-batterie apportent un côté pop, vraiment délicieux. Ca m'a rappelé certains titres des Dandy Warhols. Une bonne surprise qui fait sourire, parfait pour démarrer l'automne.

Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip are a LCD Soundsystem in English mode with their typical british humour and the accent which goes with. “The Beat That My Heart Skipped” is their last EP which will be, I think, a success. The guitar sample, the loop of bass-beats bring a pop side, really delicious. It reminds me some songs of the Dandy Warhols. A good surprise which makes smiling, perfect to start the autumn.
