Robyn, alias Robin Miriam Carlsson, est une compositeur et chanteuse suédoise qui cartonne depuis 10 ans sur les bords de la Mer du Nord ainsi qu'aux Etats-Unis avec une électro-pop très candide et simple. C'est effectivement passe-partout, ça flirte avec le mainstream de bas étage mais reste charmant malgré tout.
Certes les productions ne sont pas toujours recommandables mais cette blonde a dans la voix ce grain qui accroche quand cette pop très "cheesy" tient la route. Robyn a cartonné dès 1997 avec "Do You Know (What It Takes)". C'est en 2005 qu'elle est revenue avec un album éponyme qui contient le très réussi single "Be Mine", sorti sur son propre label Konichiwa Records. Konichiwa est une déformation de 'Konnichi Wa' qui signifie 'Bonjour' en japonais et colle bien à l'ambiance nippone que Robyn développe.
Je dois bien avouer que c'est surtout sur "Konichiwa Bitches" que j'ai flashé. Le titre référence à l'expression "Konichiwa Bitches" du comédien Dave Chappelle, est un morceau rappé plutôt controversé pour la chanteuse lisse qu'est Robyn. Il y a du Lady Sovereign dans son phrasé, et du Cure années 80 pour la musique avec un riff de synthé bontampi et une production bien léchée. C'est frais, groovy, parfait pour cette entame d'Avril !

I admit the productions are not always advisable but this blonde woman has in her voice something special when the cheesy productions have a good level. Robyn has some successes since 1997 with “Do You Know (What It Takes)”. It is in 2005 that she returned with an eponym album which contains the nice “Be Mines”, released on her own label Konichiwa Records. Konichiwa is a deformation of “Konnichi Wa” which means “Hello” in Japanese and adhesives well with Japanese environment that Robyn develops.
I must acknowledge that it is especially on “Konichiwa Bitches” that I got a flash. The track which is a reference to the expression “Konichiwa Bitches” of the actor Dave Chappelle, is a rapped tune, something new for the smooth singer who is Robyn. There is a part of Lady Sovereign in her flow, and a part of the Eighties Cure for the music with a riff of cheap keyboard and a licked production. It is fresh, groovy, perfect for beginning April!
