Spektrum est un quatuor de Brighton qui rassemble Lola Olafisoye, Isaac Tucker, Teia Williams et Gabriel Olegavich. A ne pas confondre avec Spectrum car ici c'est du le funk minimal déstructuré à tendance new wave. Ce post-punk-funk met en avant Lola Olafisoye, chanteuse aux incantations menaçantes, qui avec un sex-appeal impressionnant et un charisme fou, hurle, chante ou respire comme une damnée. Après l'avoir vue en concert, elle me rappelle Nina Hagen tant ses extravagances scéniques sont hallucinantes.
Remixé par Tiefschwarz, encensé par Gilles Peterson et Rae & Christian, Spektrum signe chez Playhouse (le label de Villalobos et d’Isolée). Ils sortent en 2004 un album 'Enter the ... Spektrum', groovy et tendu, dancefloor et oppressant. C'est un patchwork d’électro-synthétique tendance année 80’, de vocodeur, de synthétiseurs époque Herbie Hancock, de basse funky, de rock façon Le Tigre et des rythmiques house. Bref c'est original, frais et tellement bien !
Le morceau issu de l'album que je choisis est en fait leur tout premier EP sorti en 2001, 'Breaker'. Les ingrédients : une basse vraiment énorme, un groove imparable. Qui a dit que l'originalité n'était pas bien ?

With not confusing with Spectrum because here it is unstructured minimal funk with influence of new wave. This post-punk-funk proposes Lola Olafisoye, fabulous singer, who sings or breathes with an impressing sex appeal and an insane charisma. After having seen her in concert, she recalls me Nina Hagen so much her scenic extravagances are incredible.

The track from the album I choose is in fact their first EP released in 2001 ' Breaker'. Ingredients : really enormous bass , an efficient groove. Who said that originality was not good ?
