C'est une histoire de hasard. Je découvre le quatrième volume de "Luftkastellet", sorte de compilation "Hôtel Coste" version restaurant chic danois. Chaque édition permet de se plonger dans une ambiance nordique pleine de chaleur, de gaieté et la nouvelle qui sortira très prochainement offre de nouvelles humeurs délicates au groove à la fois organique et électronique. Les grands noms cotoient des inconnus (pour moi !) : Nightmares On Wax "The Sweetest", Kenneth Bager "Love won't leave me Alone", Quentin Harris "Let's Be Young", Coldcut "Walk A Mile In My Shoes". Pointu et sans fioriture !
Un nom ressort de ce quatrième volume : The Nomad, alias Daimon Schwalrger, néo-zélandais qui débuta dans les années 80 en tant que DJ old-school hip-hop. Des milliers de sets plus tard, il se lance dans la production en 1996 avec Parl Runga et Ryan Smith au sein de Locust. Il se lance en solo sous le nom de Nomad à la suite d'un premier titre "On The Beating Track" duquel suit son premier album "Movement" en 1998 qui fut le premier album Drum & Bass en Nouvelle Zélande. De plus en plus confiant en lui, il enchaîne les albums, "Second Selection", plus downtempo et dub avec quelques invités de marque comme Farda P des Rockers Hi-Fi, Charmed 1 et MC Antsman, "Level Three" et "Step 4th" sortis sur son propre label "Fresh Produce". Si vous aimez l'éclectisme (à l'image du blog), vous apprécierez les travaux de The Nomad. Son dernier album "Quinessence" sorti en 2005 est de loin son meilleur album. A bon entendeur !
"Destinations" est un instrumental envoûtant, qui m'a transporté à la fin des années 90 où le trip-hop repris à leur compte par Terranova, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Kid Loco faisait fureur. Sans nostalgie, je n'arrive pas à me passer de ce morceau au bon goût de spleen. Magique..

A name comes out from this fourth volume : The Nomad alias Daimon Schwalrger, New Zealander who began in the Eighties as an old-school hip-hop DJ. Thousands of sets later, he launched out in the production in 1996 with Parl Runga and Ryan Smith within Locust. He started his solo carreer under the name of The Nomad following a first track “One The Beating Track” whose his first album “Movement” into 1998 went out and was the first Drum & Bass album in New Zealand. Increasingly trustful in him, he released couple of albums, “Second Selection”, more downtempo and dub with some nice featurings like Farda P of Rockers Hi-Fi, Charmed 1 and MC Antsman, “Three Level” and “Step 4th” on his own label “Fresh Produce”.
