Tomboy, alias Thomas Barfod, est un danois à l'éclectisme déconcertant et un pilier de la scène électronique européenne. C'est lui qui fonda le groupe disco-rock-électro Whomadewho (chroniqué sur le blog) qui fut une des meilleures surprises et albums en 2005. Après une tournée avec Whomadewho, Thomas Barfod retourne en studio et en solo pour développer son projet Tomboy, cette fois-ci techno.
C'est sur le label Gomma Records que Tomboy sort une série de 4 maxis, tueries absolues, "One", "2", "3" et "4". Mais il ne s'arrête pas là en soumettant quelques tracks bien sentis pour le label du canadien Tiga, Turbo Recordings, avec "Basement Music" et sans oublier Kitsuné qui l'inclut dans sa compilation "Maison Volume 1". Tomboy continue en sortant un album nommé "Serios" avec quelques invités issus ou non de la galaxie Gomma, Namosh, Mia Von Matt, Mathias Modica (de Munk) et le chanteur danois Malou. Cet opus est un trip total où j'ai découvert ce talent si particulier de Tomboy, producteur d'une pop électronique fantastique et bizarre, agréable et chaudement recommandée. "Finale I/O", "Maggie & Samira", "Something" et "Swan" sont des morceaux à écouter de toute urgence.
Et comment ne pas tomber sous le charme dévastateur de "I Kill Guitar", un nouveau standard des soirées. Tomboy s'invite aux côtés de Vitalic avec ce titre qui, comme pour "Rock 01", est définitivement convaincant et une valeur sure pour faire chavirer n'importe quel auditeur dans un état d'euphorie dansante. Il n'y a pas d'équivoque : Tomboy a bien tué la Guitare !

He is the founder of the disco-electro-rock'n'roll band, Whomadewho (still reviewed on the blog) which was one of the best surprises and albums in 2005. After a long tour with Whomadewho, Thomas Barfod returned in studio and in solo to develop his project Tomboy, this time techno oriented.
It is on the label Gomma Records that Tomboy released a serie of 4 Eps, absolute slaughters : “One”, “2”, “3” and “4”. But he does not never stop by producing some tracks for the Canadian Tiga's label, Turbo Recordings, with “Basement Music” and without forgetting Kitsuné which includes Tomboy in its compilation “Kitsuné Maison Volume 1”. Tomboy arrives with an album named “Serios” with some guests resulting or not from the Gomma galaxy, Namosh, Mia Von Matt, Mathias Modica (of Munk) and the Danish singer Malou. This opus is a total trip where I discovered the particular talent of Tomboy, producer of a fantastic and odd pop, pleasant electronic and warmly recommended. “Final I/O”, “Maggie & Samira”, “Something” and “Swan” are tunes to listen urgently.
And how not to fall under the devastator charm of “I Kill Guitar”, a new standard of parties. Tomboy is invited to the sides of Vitalic with this track which, as for “Rock 01”, is definitively convincing and a sour value to capsize any listener in a state of dancing euphoria. There is no ambiguity : Tomboy killed the Guitar well!
