Channel Two est comme son nom l'indique, un duo de producteurs/musiciens, l'un est allemand Andreas Bingel, l'autre américain Terence Yoshiaki. Associés depuis 2002, ils ont fait leurs armes en collaborant avec les Black Eyed Peas pour Terence et en perçant sur MTV Allemagne avec un groupe Ich-Zwerg pour Andreas. Bref ce sont deux professionnels au talent éprouvé qui mettent en commun leurs connaissances et leurs contacts pour nous proposer de zapper sur leur "deuxième chaîne".
Leur collaboration a débuté avec un titre "Across Waters", repris par bon nombre de compilations. Leur force réside dans le subtile enchevêtrement de la musique soul américaine et la musique électronique européenne, demeurant toujours proche du hip-hop. Alternant les sessions d'enregistrement tantôt chez l'un tantôt chez l'autre, Terence et Andreas s'évertuent à produire tout simplement de la bonne musique sans se soucier des genres, des dictats, etc. Le résultat est retranscrit sur leur premier album "Artful Time Reduction" sorti chez Kajmere Sound Recordings. Il s'agit d'un vrai manifeste de "cross-over" entre styles musicaux où hip-hop, soul, nu-jazz et même pop se rassemblent. A noter des contributions de Tre Hardson des Pharcyde, Ming des The Spooks, Patrice, chanteur allemand, Kim Hill, ou encore Apl des Black Eyed Peas. Une production de tonnerre, des featurings qui apportent de vrais plus, pour un album dont on ne se lassera jamais de réécouter.
Quelle classe, quelle volupté pour le morceau "Jazz Move" qui rappellera à certains l'époque de Ludovic Navarre sous son pseudo St Germain. Fusion de jazz et d'électro des années 90. Un simple piano, un petit riff de guitare, quelques caresses sur une batterie et le tour est joué. Je dois avouer qu'il était dur de sélectionner un titre dans ce fabuleux album.

An incredible production and featurings which bring something more, for an album which one will never weary to listen again and again.
What a class, what a pleasure to listen to the song “Jazz Move” which will recall to some of you the time of Ludovic Navarre under his nickname St Germain. Fusion of jazz and electro in the 90's. A simple piano, a small riff of guitar, some caresses on a battery and then it's done ! I must acknowledge that it was hard to select a track from this fabulous album.
