On a beau apprécié le son, les beats d'aujourd'hui. Il n'empêche, le old-school continue de résonner en moi. Ce n'est en aucun cas de la nostalgie, un certain "c'était mieux avant". Le old-school possède une caractéristique qui lui est propre et qui en fait sa force à mon sens : découvrir un morceau et avoir ce sentiment de le connaître car il est clairement identifié, se référant à une époque que l'on a connue ou non.
C'est pour appuyer ce sentiment que Nike a commandé pour fêter l'anniversaire des 25 ans de la chaussure Nike Air Force One, basket mythique, un morceau à DJ Premier. Reprendre les fondamentaux de l'époque, ce hip-hop tout juste naissant avec un break clair, simple, bien loin des productions actuelles, un sample classique et terriblement efficace, la bonne vibe dirait un jamaicain. Bref un classique !
C'est justement le titre du morceau, "Classic" qui est une production de DJ Premier avec un rassemblement de MCs qui fait rêver, où chaque période 80-90-00 est représentée : KRS-One ainsi que Rakim, qui débutèrent en 1987, Nas en 1994 et Kanye West en 2004. Les fondamentaux sont bien là avec un sample génialissime "Dance The Kung-Fu" de Carl Douglas. Un vibrant hommage au hip-hop, un pont générationnel qui prouve une fois de plus que le hip-hop est là pour longtemps et c'est tant mieux.
Even if I appreciate the sound, the beats of nowadays, I have a special and extreme appreciation of old-school which continues to resound in me. It is not a question of nostalgia, a kind of “it was were better before”. The old-school has a characteristic which is clean for him and makes its force according to me : to discover a new track and to have this special feeling to know it because it is clearly identified, referring at one time that we knew or not.

To bring back again, this hip-hop just being born with a clear & simple beat far from the current productions, a traditional and terribly effective sample. Only good vibes, would say a Jamaican. In short a classic!
