Lotek Hi-fi est le projet d'un homme, Wayne Bennett, que l'on connait pour avoir produit quelques tracks sur les albums de Roots Manuva avec qui il a co-créé le label Banana Klan.
Après un mini-album sorti chez Big Dada, il réitère avec un album fraîchement sorti, "Mixed Blessings". Difficile de rester de marbre à l'écoute de ce hip hop né des machines où Wayne Bennett y intègre selon les besoins du dub, reggae, dancehall ou encore electro. Cet album confirme qu'il existe bel et bien un son Lotek HiFi qui s'accole merveilleusement bien aux trois flows complémentaires des MCs : une voix profonde, sombre et chaude d'Aurelius, le chant doux de Wayne Paul, digne héritier d'Horace Andy, et le phrasé "manuvéen" de Wayne Bennett. A cela s'ajoute une liste de featurings de qualité : bien entendu Roots Manuva, la MC en vogue du moment, Sandra Melody qui aura fait le tour de toutes les pointures de Ninja Tune (Diplo, Herbaliser, Part 2...) mais également Earl J., ancien membre de Lotek Hi-Fi.
Le titre "Move ya Ting" est un mélange étonnant de ragga et de disco auxquels participent Roots Manuva et Sandra Melody. Une basse lourde, des breaks saccadés et des flows pour mettre le feu au dancefloor.

The track "Move ya Ting" is an astonishing mixture of ragga and disco music in which Roots Manuva and Sandra Melody take part. A punchy bass,some jerked breaks to put fire on the dancefloor.
