En découvrant "Cousins", j'ai tout de suite pensé que ce serait le choix d'Apple pour sa prochaine publicité. Du style, le cousin de l'Iphone est arrivé... Quant au clip, drôle, énergique à l'image de la chanson avec une certaine réminiscence de celui de Michel Gondry pour les White Stripes.

L'album est pour bientôt et pour se faire une idée, voici un premier titre "People Movin" sur lequel figure Primary 1. Les amateurs de pop enfantine façon Metronomy seront ravis.

Les deux compères de The Count & Sinden, à savoir Herve et Sinden, sont de retour avec un superbe maxi, "Strange Things", sur lequel on retrouve autant de la Fidget House, "Elephant 1234", mais aussi un morceau incroyable de Jungle Drum'n Bass "Strange Things", issu d'un hit reggae de John Holt portant le même nom. Massive tune!

Rubix, DJ hollandais, commence à faire parler de lui. Il faut dire qu'il surfe sur la vague house disco qui revient sur le devant de la scène, le succès de Duck Sauce en Angleterre l'illustre très bien. Toujours les mêmes recettes, une belle boucle groovy disco, un beat house funky et c'est partie pour un tour de dance ! "Baiser Sur La Disco" est le meilleur titre de Rubix et le clip vaut le détour !

Un de mes labels hip-hop fétiche, Big Dada, vit peut-être un tournant car ses sorties réellement hip-hop ne sont pas incroyables alors que dès leurs MCs débarquent avec des instrumentaux électroniques dance, Big Dada frappe fort. Souvenez-vous de Wiley avec son incroyable "Wearing My Rolex" ! Cette recette à base musique house 90's et de baltimore music, semble l'avenir du label, surtout quand on découvre ce jeune rappeur Jammer et son "Party Animal". Une bête de chanson !
One of my favoutire hip-hop labels, Big Dada, lives maybe a bend because its pure hip-hop releases are not really interesting. On the other hand, when MCs put their flow on electronic dance instrumentals, Big Dada rocks! Remember Wiley with his incredible "Wearing My Rolex"! This recipe based on 90's house and baltimore music seems the future of the label, especially when we discover this young MC, Jammer, and his "Party Animal". What an animal song!

Au menu, de la techno "maximale", typique du label allemand Boysnoize Records. Tel un révolutionnaire comme son nom de scène le suggère, le marseillais fait de "Yes Is More" un opus transgenre, mélange de rock, de techno, de cold wave. Et pousse loin le concept en réorchestrant façon new wave, un tube disco funk des années 80 des Sister Sledge, "Lost In Music", avec en prime la chanteuse d'Au Revoir Simone, Erika Forster. Inattendu et divin à la fois.

And prooves it with this new wave cover of a disco funk 80's track of Sister Sledge, "Lost In Music", with in addition the singer of Au Revoir Simone, Erika Forster. Unexpected and divine at the same time.
Sacrée année pour le français Flairs qui après le succès de son premier album et du film Les Beaux Gosses, sort un nouveau maxi qui vaut le détour. "Truckers Delight", c'est de la pop électronique instrumentale avec ce soupçon de psychédélisme enchanteur. Au delà du morceau, c'est la vidéo que j'adore, une course poursuite porno trash sous forme de dessin animé sous forme de jeu vidéo rétro qui rappelle "Crazy Cars", les vieux amateurs d'Amstrad CPC6128 verseront certainement une petite larme (nostalgie enfantine oblige !).

"Truckers Delight" is an instrumental electronic pop track with a little taste of psychedelism. Beyond the tune it is the music video which I like, a porno trash track race cartoon looking like an old video game which reminds "Crazy Cars", old fans of CPC6128 Amstrad will fell childish nostalgia!
A la manière de Little Boots, Florence & The Machine est une jeune anglaise, Florence Welch, talentueuse musicalement. Fantastique sur scène, elle dégage ce je-ne-sais-quoi qui la rend intrigante et surtout touchante. Entourée pour l'enregistrement de son premier album "Lungs" par de grosses pointures de la production (Paul Epworth, James Ford, Steve MacKay), Florence et ses machines poussent loin ses envolées accompagnées d'orchestrations magistrales. Et quand sa reprise "You'Ve Got The Love" des The Source est remixé par les orfèvres, The XX, alors nous nous approchons du nirvana.

Attention, claque en vue ! "Hungry For The Power" est peut-être bien le morceau de l'année et nous le devons aux obscurs Azari & III. Je suis inconditionnel de ce côté rétro house des années 80 retrouvant le groove de l'époque dont le label DFA Records s'est fait le nouvel ambassadeur. Et que dire du clip, magistral comme le morceau. La soif de pouvoir est dangereux pour la santé mais c'est si bon !

I am unconditional of this retro 80's house style grabing the groove of this period of which the label DFA Records is the new ambassador. And what say about the music video, a masterfpiece as the tune.The hungry of the power is dangerous for health but it is so good!
Cela fait un bail, un blog supprimé arbitrairement par la DMCA, le temps d'en recréer un autre et c'est reparti pour un tour. Commençons Tracks Addicted par un nouveau mix automnal pour passer entre les feuilles qui tombent, braver le froid qui débarque et avoir un peu de chaleur au fond de soi.

La musique est souvent une affaire d'environnement. D'ailleurs n'écoutons pas des titres, des styles, des groupes différents selon le lieu où nous sommes, chez soi, dans un bar, dans une discothèque. Mais il arrive que certains morceaux sont adaptés à tous, ils sont dansants sans trop l'être, mélodiques, envoûtants. Comme par exemple avec "Dancing In Outer Space" d'Atmosfear, remixé (retravaillé ?) par The Revenge qui sont devenus des cadors des édits et remixes en 2 ans à peine. Je vous conseille une écoute avec un casque où le morceau prend une dimension incroyable (quel travail de mastering !).
The music is often an affair of environment. Moreover don't we listen specific tracks, different music styles, different bands according to the place where we are, at home, in a bar, in a discotheque. But it happens sometimes some tunes pieces are adapted to all, they are groovy without excess, melodic, captivating mind and ears. As for example with Atmosfear's "Dancing In Outer Space", reworked by The Revenge who became high figures of edits and remixes in only 2 years. I advise you a listening with headphones which give to the track an incredible dimension (what a mastering work of !).
Alors que l'album des Crookers se fait toujours attendre, les italiens viennent de mettre en ligne un clip particulièrement original, pour certains peut-être même dérangeant ou déroutant. Le morceau "Put Your Hands On Me" où l'on retrouve du MC qui monte Kardinal Offishal est quant à lui étonnant, un mélange de R'n'B façon Estelle, de hip-hop tendance Kanye West, d'électro inspirée de Count & Sinden et une inspiration forte de Diplo pour les rythmiques. Je vous laisse découvrir.
While the Crookers' always is still awaiting, Italian have just put online a new music video particularly original, for some maybe even disturbing or puzzling. The track "Put Your Hands On Me" on which we find the MC, Kardinal Offishal, is surprising, a mix of Estelle's R'n'B, of hip-hop tendency Kanye West, of electro inspired of Count and Sinden and a strong inspiration of Diplo for the beats. Celle qui soit disant s'était fait connaître grâce à Myspace, finit par retourner sa veste montrant du doigt tous ces vilains de pirates qui spolient ces artistes tous proches de devenir SDF. Manipulée, de mauvaise de foi ou tout simplement idiote, elle a au moins le mérite d'avoir donné une idée géniale à Dan Bull de publier une vidéo et un morceau en guise de lettre ouverte à cette malheureuse Lily. Non sans humour et sincérité !

In Flagranti, alias Alex Gloor et Sasha Crnobrnja, sont des bricoleurs du dimanche. Pas de matériel audio sophistiqué, pas de studio, juste de l'inspiration bien ancrée dans le punk et le disco. Leur second album "Brash & Vulgar" est à l'image de la pochette, une esthétique seventies obscène teintées de sexe, d'humour, un brin crade. Ce sont les qualificatifs qui vont également à cette vidéo, ambiance disco kitsch qui en fera sourire plus d'un !
Alex Gloor and Sasha Crnobrnja, aka In Flagranti, love saying they record their tracks as amateur musician. No sophisticated audio equipment, no studio, just good inspiration anchored in punk and disco music. Their second album "Brash & Vulgar" is like the cover an seventies and obscene aesthetics tinged with sex, humor and a little bit grotty. These qualifiers go well to this video, kitsch disco atmosphere which will make everyone smiling!
La loi des séries existe en musique. Comme vous avez pu le remarquer sur le blog, le label d'Hervé, Cheap Thrills, enchaînent les maxis avec une qualité exceptionnelle. Fake Blood, révélé par ses remixes et surtout son morceau mythique "Mars", prouve à l'occasion de la sortie de "Fix Your Accent" qu'il est talentueux mais aussi éclectique. Il a mis sa manière de produire des titres façon rouleau compresseur au service du disco. Et ça marche parfaitement, pire c'est terrible. Il suffit d'écouter "I Think I Like It", véritable tsunami musical speedé, groovy et déstructuré.
The series theory exists in music. As you noticed on the blog, Hervé's label, Cheap Thrills, chains EPs with an exceptional quality. Fake Blood, revealed by his remixes and especially his mythical track "Mars", proves on the occasion of his new release "Fix Your Accent" that he is talented but also eclectic. He integrates his way of producing roadroller tracks in disco music tunes. And it works perfectly, worse it is terrible. Just listen to "I Think I Like It", a speed, groovy and crazy musical tsunami.
Rencontre entre les deux plus grands messies de la production électro des années 2000, l'allemand Boys Noize et le français Para One. Le second album de Boys Noize est attendu pour bientôt et selon certaines sources il s'annonce aussi grandiose que le premier. Para One après son fantastique "Epiphanie" s'est lancé dans divers projets : musique expérimentale, BO de films et musique classique. Heureusement le français n'a pas perdu la main et c'est un certain plaisir de retrouver son électro sur ce remix de "Jeffer".
Meeting between two biggest messiahs of 2K's electro production, German Boys Noize and French Para One. The second album of Boys Noize is waited for soon and according to certain sources it sounds so great as the first one. Para One after his fantatic "Epiphanie" dashed into diverse projects: experimental music, soundtracks and classical music. Fortunately the French is still in electro place and his remix of "Jeffer" proves it.
Je suis de ceux qui ont été fasciné dans les années 90 par Massive Attack mais aussi de ceux qui ont été désabusé par la suite. Des albums sans grande inspiration, une désinvolture atroce... Bref Massive Attack, c'était mieux avant, bien avant. Mais demain ? Si Tricky et Mushroom n'ont toujours pas réapparu, Daddy G a fini par revenir et rejoindre 3D qui seul ne parvenait pas à faire grand chose de bien. Est-ce leur retrouvaille qui a accouché d'une renaissance inattendue pour un nouvel album qui d'après les premiers extraits se rapprochent du niveau de "Blue Lines" et "Protection". Pour s'en convaincre, allez écouter du sombre et divin "Pray For Rain", on retrouve cette atmosphère inquiétante et sombre comme sur "Karmacoma", un groove au ralenti comme dans "Sly" et pour couronner le tout, Tunde Adebimpe, chanteur de TV On The Radio, pose sa voix de manière magistrale. Bref c'est une excellente surprise, de quoi se réconcilier.
I am one of those who were fascinated in the 90's by Massive Attack but also one of those who were afterward disenchanted. Albums without inspiration, a atrocious carelessness... Well Massive Attack, it was better before, well really before. But tomorrow? If Tricky and Mushroom do not still reappear, Daddy G eventually comes back and joins 3D who lonely were unable to record godd songs. It is their re-formation which gives birth to an unexpected revival for a new album which according to the first tracks available get closer to the quality level of "Blue Lines" and "Protection". To prove it, just listen to the somber and divine "Pray For Rain", we find this disturbing and dark atmosphere as on "Karmacoma", a downtempo groove as in "Sly" and what's more, we get Tunde Adebimpe, the singer of Tv On The Radio, puts majestically his voice. In brief it is an excellent surprise. It's reconciliation time.
La rentrée est chargée avec beaucoup de sorties. La semaine prochaine sort le prochain album du producteur français Wax Taylor. En exclusivité voici un mini-mix présentant "In The Mood For Life" qui s'annonce dans la lignée de ses précédents albums aux ambiances trip-hop et abstract hip-hop. Ce roi du sample est un véritable amoureux de la musique, extrêmement humble lorsque je l'ai rencontré et son travail est l'oeuvre d'un orfèvre aux connaissances impressionnantes. Je vous conseille de vous précipiter sur cette sortie. A bon entendeur.
September is full of many many new releases. Next week will take out the next album of the French producer Wax Taylor. Exclusively here is a mini-mix presenting "In The Mood For Life" which is in the lineage of his previous albums with trip-hop and abstract hip-hop atmospheres. This king of sampling is a real music lover, also really humble when I met him and his tracks are the work of a silversmith with the impressive knowledge. I advise you to rush on this release.
Je vous l'avais annoncé, la French Touch première édition est de retour. On dépoussière tous ces titres filtrés et comme avec "Venus (Sunshine People)" de Cheek, on se rend vite compte que ces morceaux n'ont pas pris une ride. Une énorme basse, un sample vocal funk et un génie du remix Pepe Bradock. Excellente idée du label Versatile qui réédite ce maxi avec également un autre excellent remix, celui de DJ Gregory.
I announced it to you, French Touch first edition is back. Let's remove the dust on all these filtered tracks and as with Cheek's "Venus (Sunshine People)", we realize that these songs did not take a wrinkle. An enormous bassline, a voice funk sample and a genius of remixing, Pepe Bradock. Excellent idea of the label Versatile which republishes this EP with also the other great remix, the DH' Gregory's one.
