Forcément eigties, très cosmic disco, "Party In My Head" m'obsède. Impossible de s'en détacher, il reste in my head !

The last album of Miss Kittin and The Hacker is so great. I still wrote a review about it but the coming out of the second EP from "Two" is an occasion to demonstrate it. Of course eigties, with a cosmic disco touch, "Party In My Head" is obsessing me. Impossible to leave it, it still stays in my head!

The Hacker - Falling (2008)

I bypass the presentation of the French techno producer, The hacker, I mentionned couple of times on this blog. Let's talk about his new EP "Mumu" and more precisely the B face "Falling" which is a unawaited surprise. "Falling" is a classic techno track even if when you listen to it with headphones (necessarily), you gonna feel giddy (and without any drugs !!!). Ready to test, go!

Miss Kittin & The Hacker - Hometown (2007)

The French duet makes his come-back, 6 years after their great first opus “First Album” released on Gigolo Records. The spearheads of an eighties electro-techno had decided to continue in solo. The Hacker always based in Grenoble released his second album “Rêves Mécaniques”, founded his label Goodlife Records while Miss Kittin always based in Berlin mixed worldwide, released some of her best mixes, made some featurings and produces her excellent soll album “I Com”.

What a surprise to see they record new tracks together ! Releasing a new EP which will be out in June on the label of The Hacker. Two new tracks to go back in their cold-rave techno universe. The song “Sunday” has a perfect title, ten minutes of an acid electro, exactly what we want to listen at the ends of a night (or beginning of sunday morning !). Dark keyboards which reminds the first tracks of Laurent Garnier. Totally tripping!

And especially “Hometown”, typical track of the duet, an eighties electro-pop tune where the voice of the Miss always operates with magic. Her unimitated singing style, her French accent so sexy are still terrible. Do hope an album will follow!

Arnaud Rebotini - Leviathan (2007)

Arnaud Rebotini is a name which should not tell you something and yet for those who love electronic music, he is a Mister resulting from the seraglio of Versailles where his friends in high school were Nicolas Godin from Air, Etienne de Crécy and Alex Gopher. True pionner, he has always used pseudonyms whose main ones were Zend Avesta in solo or Black Strobe in collaboration with Ivan Smagghe.

As impassioned by the experimental contemporary music as by DJ Shadow or Slayer, Arnaud Rebotini is a producer whose remixes for Oliver Huntemann or Zen Kei, are divine. As at ease in the Cité de la Musique (contemporary music temple in France) as in Rex Club, he develops an organic techno sometimes minimalist, digging a little more the furrow created by Black Strobe. He signed on the label of The Hacker, Good Life, with an EP “The Wood” which is a homage to the Detroit techno, a homage for (grand)-fathers founders. “The Wood” and its hypnotic bassline obviously point out the first productions of Jeff Mills and Robert Hood.

“Leviathan” is the face B of this opus and would deserve the face A. More influenced by the minimalism of American Steve Reich and Terry Riley, Arnaud Rebotini shows a direction of a melancholic groove sense as never I had not been able to listen. An imposing track whose progressive rise offers an fulgurating explosion at the end : 8 minutes and 15 seconds of intense pleasure.

The Hacker - Traces (Oxia Remix) (2006)

What are the two common points between Detroit and Grenoble ? Love of the electronic music and the surplus of concrete. One surely makes it possible to forget the other. Follower of a assuming dark techno, The Hacker, of his true name Michel Amato, found his loophole in misty dance-floors, places where he can live his 'Goodlife', the name of the label he is the cofounder with Oxia. Goodlife, a learnedly selected name, in reference to the tracktitle of the Gods of Detroit techno, Kevin Saunderson and Theo Parrish, creators of Inner City.

It is during big parties in Alpes mountains that he met Miss Kittin with whom he released an album which will propel them on the front of the scene, or rather behind turntables of worldwide parties places. These 2 electro guys surfed on the vagueness of the revival new wave which acted these last years like a tsunami carrying all on its passage and which produced a track as worship as "Rock 01" of Vitalic, black, relentless and powerful. That with that does not hold, The Hacker proves that this movement is not that an simple fashionable trend, making true followers, some signing on GoodLife Records. His album "Rêves Mécaniques", released in 2004, is a pearl pointing out to me the albums of Depeche Mode, so much remixed and sometimes even well remixed.

It is the case of the tracks "Traces" on which Mount Sims, who released some EPs on International Deejay Gigolos Records, brings a male-intonated voice. This one disapears in this remix of the French Olivier Raymond, alias Oxia, even if it still perspires in filligrane. Oxia takes as a starting point the Alter Ego, uses brutal sonorities and extracts from the original version a rate to make stamping clubber's feet, to shake the head of hard rock fans, to make redden corbel lovers of new wave and even to put in trance a smoker of ganja... Do you follow ?
